LOTS of changes

We had a whirlwind weekend.  Not so much physically, but mentally.

I thought a lot about keeping my thoughts to my self and then my voice went out.  What I wanted to say is that I do not like where we live.  I don't like to clean it, or to cook in it, or really much of anything in it.  We hear our neighbors dog constantly.  We hear them talk.  We hear everything.  The houses are literally 5 ft from ours.

We tried, we really did try to like this and make it work.

However, when I told Darrell, he felt the same way.

So, we are on the way to selling our home and building the one we plan on staying in until we die or are forced into a retirement home.

I know, some may say this is no such thing, but this really is the place we are making our oasis - the one we have bought land in before AND are looking to buy in again.  It is very wooded and with 2.5 acres, we can store our RV, have fruit trees, a garden and still not see or hear our neighbors.

Yes, this means a little larger mortgage, but we are downsizing again, so it is less square footage than the one we are in.  We will put 20% down, so no pmi and will cash flow any extras.  We plan on living in our RV while the home is being built.

These are all preliminary plans and nothing has happened yet.  We are just looking and asking questions, but this is going to happen sooner than later.

She might give you some inspiration on how to mak ea successful go of it while your house is being built. Here's her site if you don't already know about it. http://lovelygreyday.blogspot.co.uk/ You will have to go back a wayz as she has been in her house for some time now.

  2. So exciting! You absolutely have to be happy where you live - it affects everything! Your plans sound amazing and I'll look forward to seeing them unfold - along with LOTS of photos when the time comes! :) x

    1. Yes, I am going to take LOTS of pictures! There is so much due diligence to get started, but I am excited about the process.

  3. I thought you didn't like living in Texas at all? Maybe it's better to wait to build once your husband is retired and you can move to a different state? maybe I'm remembering wrong and it's just the particular city you don't like.
Reading your posts sound a lot like my thought process. I crave change and am not happy when things stay the same. In the past this meant me moving to a new apartment every year or so just for a change of some kind. Or I would buy stuff. Then when the new wore off I would look for the next thing I wanted to buy/do. Do you feel the same way? I struggle trying to control that.

    1. I know, but living here is very inexpensive and adjusting to the change in living standard would be difficult for us. Plus, he won't be retiring for 20 years. We feel like we should live where we feel more comfortable. If it happens that we move, then we do. We are just tired of living in this area that we only moved to for the kids.
